By using Valve & Vinyl you agree to these terms. They are short, and we have tried to write them in English rather than in the usual defensive fog.

What this site is

Valve & Vinyl, published by Type 5 Marketing LLC, is an editorial publication about hi-fi and home theater equipment. It is informational. It is not professional advice, and it is not a shop.

We are not a retailer

We do not sell, ship, warranty, service or support any product mentioned here. When you follow a link and buy something, the contract is between you and that retailer. We never see your order, your name or your payment details, and we cannot help with a delivery, a return or a warranty claim. Take those to the retailer.

Our recommendations are opinions

Our picks and scores are editorial opinion applied to published data. They are not measurements, not test results, and not guarantees of anything.

We do not test, listen to, own or measure the products we write about. That is stated throughout the site and it is stated here. Our method is published in full on How We Pick, and you should read it before relying on anything here.

Specifications come from manufacturers

Every specification we publish was read from a manufacturer’s own document, and every one links to that document. We do our best to read them correctly, and we will get some of them wrong.

Manufacturers also change specifications, revise documents, and occasionally contradict themselves — we have documented at least one case where a manufacturer’s product page and its own spec sheet disagree. Verify anything that matters to your purchase against the source before you buy, and take the manufacturer’s current document over our page if the two differ.

If we have made an error, tell us. We fix and date corrections per our editorial policy.

Prices

Prices come from Amazon’s API and are stamped with the date fetched. They change constantly and may be wrong the moment after we fetch them. Anything older than 48 hours disappears automatically rather than being shown stale. The price at checkout is the only one that counts. We are not responsible for pricing errors at any retailer.

This site earns affiliate commission, disclosed on every page that carries a link and in full on our affiliate disclosure. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. It costs you nothing extra.

Use it sensibly

You agree not to:

• Scrape or bulk-copy this site’s content for republication.
• Republish our articles as your own.
• Attempt to disrupt the site or its infrastructure.
• Use the contact form to send spam or anything unlawful.

Quoting us with attribution and a link is fine and welcome. Copying a page wholesale is not.

Intellectual property

Our text, our arithmetic and our editorial judgements are ours. Product names, brand names and trademarks belong to their owners and are used here for identification. Product images come from Amazon’s catalogue under their Associates programme. Atmospheric photographs are licensed stock and are decorative — none of them depicts our gear, our room or our bench, because we have none.

Third-party links

We link to manufacturers, standards bodies and retailers. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for their content or their handling of your data. We link to them because you should be able to check our sources.

No warranty

This site is provided as is. We do not warrant that it is error-free or that every specification is current. To the fullest extent the law allows, Type 5 Marketing LLC is not liable for any loss arising from your use of this site or from a purchase you make after reading it. Your purchasing decisions are yours.

Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud.

Changes

We may update these terms; the date at the top will change when we do. Continuing to use the site means you accept the current version.
