Privacy Policy

The short version

We run Google Analytics, we use affiliate links that Amazon can track, and we have a contact form. That is the whole list. We do not sell data, we do not run ad networks, and we have no accounts to sign up for.

What we collect

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages get read. It collects usage data — pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser, and how you arrived. Google processes this on our behalf; their handling is governed by Google’s privacy policy.

We look at this in aggregate. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors and we have no way to.

The contact form

If you write to us, we receive your name, email address and message. We use them to reply and for nothing else. Messages are delivered to our own mailbox via Microsoft Graph; they are not added to a mailing list, because we do not have one.

The form applies basic anti-spam checks — a hidden field, a timing check, and a per-IP rate limit. The rate limit holds an IP address in memory temporarily and is not written to any permanent store.

Affiliate links

Product links pass through our /go/ paths and then to Amazon with our affiliate tag. Amazon may set a cookie to attribute a purchase to us. What happens after you land on Amazon is governed by Amazon’s privacy notice, not this one.

We never see your order. Not the item, not the amount, not your name, not your payment details. Affiliate reporting tells us that a purchase happened, not who made it. See our affiliate disclosure.

What we do not do

• Sell, rent or share your data with anyone.
• Run advertising networks or retargeting pixels.
• Have user accounts, logins or profiles — there is nothing to sign up for.
• Run a newsletter or collect email addresses for marketing.
• Use chat widgets, session recorders or heatmap tools.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies to measure usage. Amazon may set one when you follow an affiliate link. We set none of our own — there is no login, no cart and no preference to remember.

Your browser can block or delete cookies, and browser-level Do Not Track and analytics-blocking extensions both work here. Nothing on this site breaks if you block them, because none of the content depends on them.

Images and third-party requests

Product photographs are served from Amazon’s image CDN, as Amazon’s Associates programme requires. Loading a page with product images therefore makes a request to Amazon’s servers. Fonts are self-hosted, so no request goes to Google Fonts.

Data retention

Contact form messages stay in our mailbox as long as they are useful, and can be deleted on request. Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics’ configured retention. The rate-limit record is transient and disappears within the hour.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port your data, or to object to processing. Since the only personal data we hold is whatever you chose to put in a contact form, exercising them is simple: write to info@valveandvinyl.com and we will action it.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change is material we will say so rather than editing quietly.
